What historical era you really belong to...

Image
Your time was the 1920s! 6 The roaring twenties was the perfect time for you. You are a cheerful and sociable person. It seems that your energy is able to light up all those around you. You love noisy parties and jazz. Some people occasionally feel that you are too childlike, carefree and dreamy, but who's to say that's bad?

What colour is your aura?

Image
Green Aura Your aura is green. You love life, whether it’s in the form of animals, plants, or human beings. People with green auras often take jobs that allow them to help others: doctors, teachers, and social workers, for example. You probably also love to spend time outdoors. A green aura is a sign that your needs are simple: warm breezes, good songs, and old friends.

"Petits crimes conjugaux" Eric Emmanuel Schmitt

"The Diving Pool" by Yoko Ogawa

Image
To watch someone undetected, to observe them from afar, to steal a glance without getting caught—these are powerful pleasures. But it's also a high-stakes game, for there is always the chance of being found out, the met glance and the blushing look away. The narrators in Yoko Ogawa's collection  The Diving Pool , which brings together three novellas published in Japan almost twenty years ago, are all consummate watchers. What Ogawa makes abundantly clear in these stories is how being put in the position of an observer (not so different from the position of the writer) changes you: to be the owner of a secret gaze is to be granted both anonymity and crushing isolation. The women in Ogawa's stories are supremely alone, removed from any kind of human connection even as they are surrounded by, perhaps even overburdened by, other people. The three novellas included here, "The Diving Pool," "Pregnancy Diary," and "Dormitory," manage the neat trick...

Articol - Suferinta fizica indica probleme emotionale ascunse

Image

"Son of Saul"

Image
Hungarian director Laszlo Nemes' first feature premiered in competition in Cannes. The hell and horrors of the Nazi death camps have rarely been so vividly suggested — and I do mean suggested, not necessarily depicted — as in  Son of Saul  ( Saul Fia ), the imposing debut of Hungarian newcomer Laszlo Nemes. Any first feature that manages to land directly in the competition in Cannes has done something right, and the rookie writer-director here takes a well-known cinematic subject, the Nazi concentration camps, but distils his narrative to the story of just one man: the titular Saul. He’s a Jewish prisoner and Sonderkommando worker who, in the piles of bodies he needs to clear from the gas chambers every day, discovers the corpse of a young boy he claims is his son. Utterly uneasy to watch but strikingly and confidently assembled, the film is a powerful aural and visual experience that doesn’t quite manage to sustain itself over the course of its running time, but is a rem...
